My mitigation yesterday was that in my central apache config: 
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} !^(GET|HEAD)$
    RewriteRule ^ - [F,L]
</IfModule>
Was fun to see what was still working just with GET-requests.
