Is it only me or macOS is not the same anymore? By the same I mean, for me, it peaked ~2014-2018 and been going downhill since then

Processors and battery life gotten a lot better. Areas of the operating system that did not regress, had no improvements either. Some more attention to giving developers more controls over defaults & not less, app windows and desktop management, etc can go long way for me

So, not "peaked" in the sense of it was better... it sounds like it is a case of it plateaued. Other than the hardware advancing. I've heard the UI and UX has fragmented recently, with subtle differences between applications that have been growing. Nothing huge, but notable considering how much effort had been given to a cohesive standard in the past.
