Are you favor of hashtags on /dev/null? (FWIW, hashtags in a closed network with stronger identity protections would be less prone to hashtag abuse, like how they worked in the early days of Twttr.) #IDemandHashtags

Let 'em spam away. We have as good a community as we make it. Just allow people to not see tags from blocked profiles, and handle the complaints about the most egregious cases of abuse. Tags are genuinely useful to mark concepts, be they hashtags or anything else. We'll simply come up with something if there's nothing official, like tagHowToTag and search for 'tagPhrase' This is a community of people who spend their days working around problems.
