Looking at some mid 19th-century newspapers today, it's amazing what people used to sell.

Don't know what I'd do with 150 long sticks, but I appreciate the hustle of collecting them!
Also sounds like a task from math textbook.
There's a fellow about 80 miles north of me in Kentucky that sells long sticks for a living. They are from various woods and different diameters and bark or no bark, and he has barns full of them drying for different products and uses by craftspeople and companies around the country. Somebody needs to have them, because there are times people need them.
