🚀 Arco v0.5.0: Laravel queues on AWS Lambda, no servers
Arco is an open-source tool that deploys Laravel to AWS Lambda Web Functions with FrankenPHP and Octane. This release lets your app process background jobs.
SQS queues, one line in arco.php
->queue('emails')
->queue('reports', timeout: 300, memory: 2048)
or with a command: arco queue:add emails
Arco then:
📬 creates the SQS queue and its dead-letter queue;
⚙️ deploys one Lambda worker per queue, which boots Laravel once and runs jobs with Laravel’s own worker;
🔗 wires everything, so ->onQueue('emails') works with no code changes (Laravel 11, 12 and 13);
🔐 sets up IAM permissions and environment variables.
Built not to lose jobs
🔁 Retries are Laravel’s ($tries, backoff, failed()), and exhausted jobs land in your failed_jobs.
🛟 The DLQ is a safety net for crashes and timeouts.
⏱ A job that runs out of time is stopped without killing the rest of the batch.
🛠 In maintenance mode, jobs wait without burning attempts.
📦 Remove a queue from arco.php and Arco keeps it in AWS with its messages, and tells you how many were left.
🔒 If a change would replace a queue, such as switching it to FIFO, the deploy stops before touching anything.
For operations
📋 arco queue:list: your queues, message counts and workers.
🩺 arco queue:dlq emails: inspect failed messages, and --redrive to send them back.
📜 arco logs --queue emails: the worker’s logs.
🔌 existing: to attach an SQS queue you already have.
Also in v0.4.1
⏸ arco scheduler:pause / resume to stop the scheduler instantly, no deploy needed.
⚡ arco scheduler:set 5 --apply to change the frequency on the spot.
Coming next: S3 buckets, DynamoDB tables for cache and failed jobs, and an arco init that detects what your app uses.
composer require multiapi/arco
vendor/bin/arco init
vendor/bin/arco deploy
MIT-licensed and free. If you run Laravel on AWS, give it a try and tell me what’s missing.
