🚀 Arco v0.7.0: arco init now reads your Laravel app and sets up AWS for you
Arco is an open-source tool that deploys Laravel to AWS Lambda Web Functions with FrankenPHP and Octane. With 0.7, getting started takes one command.
composer require multiapi/arco-laravel laravel/octane
composer require --dev multiapi/arco
vendor/bin/arco init
init looks at your code and offers what your app needs:
⏰ Scheduler: it reads your schedule and suggests the right interval. “Your tasks need schedule:run every 5 minutes”, and it names the tasks a slower interval would miss.
📬 Queues: it finds your ShouldQueue jobs and the queue names in your code (onQueue('emails')), and offers one SQS queue with a worker for each.
🪣 Storage: using S3? It offers a private, encrypted bucket wired in as your default disk.
⚡ Cache: using DynamoDB? It offers an on-demand cache table with TTL.
🗂 Failed jobs: no SQL database? It offers a DynamoDB table so queue:failed and queue:retry still work.
📜 Log retention: 30 days by default instead of “forever” (and forever billed).
🖥 Console function for arco command, tinker and migrations on deploy.
You answer yes or no to each piece, and nothing is created that you didn’t accept.
Built so a first deploy just works:
✅ init checks the arco.php it is about to write and only writes it if it is valid. A long app name won’t give you a bucket name AWS rejects later.
📦 It tells you which packages your choices need: composer require league/flysystem-aws-s3-v3 ...
🤖 For CI, every question has a flag: --scheduler=5 --queue=emails --storage=files --cache
Also in 0.7:
🧹 Buckets now abort multipart uploads left unfinished for 7 days. Those leftover parts never show up in listings but keep costing you money.
🔒 Tighter IAM: the cache and failed-jobs tables lose a permission they never used.
🐘 Fix for Laravel Herd users: arco.php failed to load with Herd’s PHP when dumps were on.
The road to 1.0: what’s left is hardening: end-to-end tests against real AWS, complete docs and a frozen config API. Then 1.0.
MIT-licensed and free. If you run Laravel on AWS, try it and tell me what’s missing.
