🚀 Arco v0.8.1 Laravel on Lambda Web Functions: run your serverless Laravel app locally, and every release is now tested end to end
Arco is an open-source tool that deploys Laravel to AWS Lambda Web Functions with FrankenPHP and Octane. This release is about confidence: knowing a deploy works before it reaches AWS.
Try your app locally with Floci
Floci is a local AWS emulator that already runs Lambda Web Functions. Point Arco at it with one variable:
AWS_ENDPOINT_URL=http://localhost:4566 vendor/bin/arco deploy --env=local
🧪 The same deploy you’d run on AWS: your Web Function, the console, the scheduler, SQS queues with workers, the DynamoDB cache, logs. All on your laptop, free.
⚡ Warm requests in milliseconds, through the same FrankenPHP runtime Arco ships to Lambda.
🛡 Nothing can reach your real AWS account: Arco shows which endpoint it is using, and never writes Floci’s fake account into your config.
Every release is tested end to end
Most serious bugs only show up on a real deploy. So now every PR does a real one:
🤖 composer test:e2e deploys a sample Laravel app to Floci and checks it: /up, cache, a queued job processed by its worker, the scheduler firing, arco command, arco logs, then removes everything.
🦾 It runs on GitHub’s ARM runners on every PR, in about 3.5 minutes.
☁️ Before releases, a separate run against a dedicated AWS account. Dry-run by default, and its cleanup only deletes what that run created and tagged.
Also in 0.8.1:
📦 Monorepos with relative Composer path repositories now deploy (the build copy used to lose them).
🔒 The code package uploads with bucket-owner-full-control, the right ACL for modern S3 buckets.
Next: more hardening on the road to 1.0: the real-AWS run on every release, then a frozen config API.
