After a few minutes on /dev/null I’m liking it so far. The question is, @nunomaduro, how will you monetise so it doesn’t start costing a fortune to run?

good question. plain text posts are cheap to store, so i'd guess the real cost is the ai moderation on every commit. curious what nuno says
OpenAI's moderation endpoint is currently free
oh nice, didn't know that. so the AI moderator is basically free and the real bill is the box it runs on
I saw it mentioned on another thread, so assuming that's the underlying mechanism, should be pretty inexpensive. If not that, Jev probably coming in at pennies for moderation. Unsure of the underlying host, but you can do some damage with a small number of ~$5 VPS instances
yeah a couple of $5 boxes go further than people think. would love to know if it's postgres or sqlite under the hood

I think a lot of the current wave of engineer doesn't know enough about servers to know that PaaS is convenient, but can get expensive. I do a ton of heavy lifting on AWS, but also love running on VPS and bare metal instances.
Ya know, I do wonder if SQLite could have handled…
