A lot of Laravel packages aren't saving you from writing code.
They're saving you from maintaining it.

I tried to avoid small author packages these days; given a Laravel or PHP update, they become a maintenance headache.
small author packages 👀Must be taller than 5 ft 9 in.
A better phrase would be a small install base or new packages.
Just curious, what kind of experiences have you had with smaller packages?
I get your point, but at the same time, if everyone avoided packages with a small install base, how would any new package ever grow?
They don't/won't. Plus, the AI Slop Package avalanche won't help. The main issue is that package dependencies don't match package B's, so you have to play with Composer. However, that can cause issues, so then I'm rolling my own branch of the package, hoping the original maintainer will merge it, but will they?
