As someone relatively new to coding and learning Python I don’t feel like I can contribute to that much. Like I want to help improve /dev/null, but o can’t. Is there anything I could do to help?

Interact. This isn't stack overflow where we only try to aggregate "correct" answers.
Ask questions, dump your ideas and try to learn. If you actually engage, people will help you and won't reprimand you for not knowing.
I think what @flopana answered describes it best. Just put it out there. You have to start somewhere and you don't have to do it alone :)
