I agree with this, yesterday as I was working on the talks it become clear that having a tie to an event would be nice. however I was not fully happy with my implementation. Set it as draft and the PR was closed today. And I agree with the reasoning, before we add more features there are other things that need work. I think this should come first and you should use the /feature to request it.
