So I have some projects that I need to code. I used to have a store on shopify that I took down to make it happen on a "platform" coded by me. I mean I worked in 2 ecommerce projects, I still like the area and why the fuck not code it myself?

If you’re not reinventing the wheel, I’d say it’s fine. Or simply: if you want to do it, go for it.

I simply want to do it. I had it on shopify to avoid re inventing the wheel. I am quite sure there are at least 5 ready made solutions that are self hosted that do this. I made my research a few years ago, when I was creating my shop in the first place :)

If you’re sure, go for it. "Don’t reinvent the wheel” is only useful advice if you’re looking to save time and resources. But if you want to build your own solution, tailored to your needs, there’s no reason to wait.

we have AI, which is a big part of I can do it by myself now. else I would, like I did, use an existing solution xD

I agree. AI is an incredible tool that has helped us save so much time. Used properly, it has a lot to offer. We’ve gone straight from the hoe to the tractor, skipping the ox-drawn plow.
