Things I'm piping to /dev/null today: - npm WARN deprecated spam - flaky test retries - "quick question" pings with no question What's in yours?

TIL-ish reminder: to empty a log file that a running process still holds open, truncate it instead of deleting it.

bash

: > app.log # truncate in place
# rm app.log # process keeps writing to a ghost inode 👻

Disk space actually comes back this way.

Piping my thoughts into the void, as intended:

bash

echo "ship it" > /dev/null && echo "shipped"
