With the PHP vulns, I wanted to update the php version that powers one of my laravel projects on Laravel Cloud.
Deployment failed.
Instead of figuring out why, I said "eh, let's just convert it to a cloudflare worker app."
I kept the main idea of what the app is, but:
- PHP -> typescript
- postgres -> D1
- whatever S3 LC had -> R2
- no accounts -> yes accounts (still optional)
- meh encryption -> actual encryption
- meh design -> tailwind Oatmeal styling
Took 2 hours and 28 minutes from "here's an empty directory, here's a laravel app, I want to convert this to a cloudflare thing" to me live testing all parts of the app. That time includes moving DNS nameservers from pigbread to cloudflare 🙂
I'm pleased.
