Why? What benefit is there to not include the latest commits of the wider network?

I think when thousands of users start committing at the same time, keeping track of the latest is not possible

what's the benefit of having the latest of "everything"? the "latest" imho is subjective.. it should be related to your interests.. otherwise you'd get lost as a user, this is just my take as a user.. i think to get & feel quality, we'd need that sort of filtering..
