Just went through the State of Devs 2026 (5.5k respondents) by Devographics. It's their self-selected audience so not representative, but an insightful read. Some numbers there: - 48% have experienced job insecurity. - 26% expect to be forced out of the field within 5 years. - 66% report reduced motivation or interest for work. - 60% growing cynicism about their work or industry. Secure(ish) on paper, disengaged in practice. The survey doesn’t ask whether people plan to leave, so this is my read, not theirs: most will probably stay until something forces the issue, since dealing with a problem when it arrives is easier than acting on a hunch. https://2026.stateofdevs.com
