Welcome!
Curious, after being out of the PHP world for some time... is being single-threaded a true limitation, or is that just a talking point of naysayers?
Damn, PHP has been handling concurrency for decades. It just does it the way my family handles conversations: everyone in a separate room, shouting.
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
I know you can scale PHP quite a bit via good caching layers, etc. before the CPU performance becomes a serious bottleneck. Just wondering what the hive mind thinks on it these days.

Best article I've found on this mentions tools like ReactPHP to switch to parallel tasks when one task becomes IO bound:

It’s mostly a talking point now. Workers handle concurrency fine for typical web apps, and FrankenPHP/Octane, and others along with queues cover most of the cases where it used to hurt. Real CPU-bound work is the main exception.
