@simonhamp does nativephp work on MacOS and Windows? We’ve a few Laravel internal apps in work and I’ve been considering a desktop solution

Yep, github.com/nativephp/desktop! v2 (the current release) uses Electron, but we're currently working on v3 which ditches Electron completely, and it's fully native and way better. coming very soon

What would you say are the benefits of native desktop over browser-based? I can’t see it myself but maybe it’s more about what your apps are doing?

Based on your use-case it sounds like you don't need to do much at all. Most browsers have the ability to install apps to the desktop this way, for example here are the screenshots showing how to install /dev/null as an app in Chrome
