Back around 2010, I was just a kid learning PHP from Robin Nixon's book, dreaming of building an open-source social network someday. I had no idea how, but I wanted to build one.
Over the years, I've been called crazy for sticking with PHP, too ambitious for the things I wanted to build, vague about my ideas, and sometimes just plain dumb. Haha. Maybe they weren't entirely wrong. I had more dreams than I knew what to do with.
Fast forward to 2026, and here I am, watching /dev/null being built right in front of me. And of all languages, it's PHP. The same PHP that started everything for me.
I guess that's why I've been opening so many PRs, coming up with ideas, and getting a little too excited about every new feature. Sorry if I've been a bit much lately, haha.
It's not even about whether my PRs get merged. I just remember being that kid who wanted to build something like this but didn't know where to begin.
16 years later, I finally know enough to try.
Life has a funny way of bringing you back to the things you once dreamed about.
