entity-relationship diagram, a visual blueprint that maps out how data is structured and connected inside a database
As I supposed ... but this is not an entity-relationship diagram.
I do not know why on the web there is this misconception of this diagram.
This one called Context Map. Suppose your ERD have so many entities that organized in several groups (I called it context view). This is the relationship between context views. We can see dependencies between them based their foreign key (and virtual relationship if needed).
