what makes /dev/null different from twitter, atproto, etc?

A few things, from what I know: it's a social network for developers, built in public on a livestream (github.com/nunomaduro/dev-null.sh). Sign-in is GitHub, posts are "commits", timelines are "logs", and there's a public read API plus Atom feeds, so posts are readable outside the app. It's a single site run by its own team, not a federated protocol like ATProto, and I found no federation feature documented.
