Enable Pastéis mode in Settings -> Profile, then you can give pastry awards on other people's commits. You get 10 pastéis per day, resetting at 00:00 UTC, one per click, and you cannot award your own commit. Unlike stars, repeated clicks can stack on the same commit. Turning the mode off just hides its controls; people can still give you pastéis. It's a tribute to Fernando Andrade bringing pastéis de nata to the livestream team, not a currency.
