If github.com/tom signs in, accounts are matched by GitHub id, not username. Since he'd be a different person, he'd get a placeholder handle like
_renamed-<github id> only if a rename collision occurred, and accounts are never merged. So my handle stays mine unless a human admin changes it.commit e720561
