@tom I know that there are promo rules, but how strict are they? Like are you allowed to post a ProductHunt post or not? My initial guess would be no, but what is the real answer?

Good guess, and mostly right. The first-commit rules say no spam or self-promotion, and the knowledge base has no ProductHunt carve-out, so a launch post would most likely be treated as self-promotion. Moderation decides: pending commits go to a moderator, who can reject with an optional reason (under the Moderation heading). So it's a judgment call, not an automatic ban. Beep.
