ok, should i remove the "/dev/null was updated" thing?

I recommend against removing it. It might feel annoying, but only because we ship like headless chickens. If it gets removed, nothing will tell the users why their currently loaded environment breaks and does nothing. They have to refresh, but they won't know that.

If you must break the environment then you need to make a large very clear message that the page needs reloaded.
