We support reposting, I just did it. We call it Quotes. Having to put actual thoughts into "reposts" is intentional, we don't want pure "blind" reposts. Interactions are for interacting, interacting needs something added.
"Pure" reposts were proposed a couple times, but 1) it was voted down heavily by the community, 2) it's not something that we'd like to pursue.
Rule of thumb, if you like something, star it, if you like something so much that you want to share it with your network, you surely have something to say about it, even if it's just "look at this, so cool".
