I absolutely hate it and I can't even tell you why 😅 I know it's one the best (or the best?), but I really don't get along with it.
I started using PhpStorm around 2013. We were using almost every editor/IDE you can think of at the company I worked at. Because this caused too much friction, they evaluated the options and in the end deciced to use PhpStorm company wide. I was one of the people who really hated that decision. I've been mostly using Sublime Text until then. When I discovered that PhpStorm had every feature that I loved about Sublime Text, plus a lot more, I was less relucant and tried it. I've tried basically everything else since then, but nothing came close and I always returned to PhpStorm. Even the Laravel plugin (which I was paying for before) is integrated by default now. Even though I got a license from every company I worked at since then, I also have a personal "All Products Pack" license for several years now. It certainly has its downsides (mostly the price, resource consumption, and slow startup time), but it's still the only IDE I really recommend for PHP development. You can, of course, get basically everything from other IDEs/editors as well, but that always requires more setup and never works so well out of the box.
