Your code is a big city. Without phpgraph, the AI walks every street reading door signs to find who lives where. That's grep. phpgraph draws the map once: which road (route) leads to which house (controller), who visits whom (calls), and which houses fall down if you move one (impact_of). Now the AI reads the map instead of walking. Same answer, fewer steps.
