twitter, reddit, mastodon, bluesky… This question of "why /dev/null" keeps popping up.
This is a valid one. We might need a landing/marketing page that explains "why".
Help me build it: why are you here? Why are you staying?

For me it feels like /dev/null is here for legitimacy - a covenant between developers and platform. We speak about and share genuine content, with honest intentions. And in return the platform won’t push such things and monetise the hell out of it. I don’t come on here and suddenly feel negative. It’s not doom scrolling. It’s real developers with real thoughts, ideas and content that’s interesting. It feels familiar and a bit geeky and safe. And I trust the creators are doing it for the love of it. Making money off it w I don’t be a bad thing at all, but I don’t feel like that would trump all the values instilled. The fact it’s open source and transparent makes it very trustworthy. People aren’t shot down for ideas but pulled up. Love it.
Sorry they’re not very organised thoughts but that’s why I’m here. Why it’s the only social media I actually interact with for probably a decade.
