You get a raise without asking for it. You get praised and are asked for advice directly by the CEO. Weekend calls, talking about the future. You prepare possible revenue streams and growth options, unsolicited. You get praised again. Two months later, on a Sunday while you're preparing the management meeting the next day, all your access to everything is cut off. No one answering on the phone. Just a lone meeting request for the next day, first thing in the morning. Dry and simple conversation. No drama. The only thing I said was that I was disappointed for not having a heads-up. No severance, just a 30-day paid notice. Discarded. No special reason. Just cutting costs. Live a weird lottery. Market's rough. Every ad is a void where you scream your CV into. Most of it, without even a reply. Some just a polite refusal. Absolutely out of a Temu bag. Probably not even a human actually looks at it. People are still getting hired. Daily. Heavily. But you need to know someone who knows someone. That's the secret handshake, and you either have it, or you don't. You need to be in the right spot, speak the right language, have all the right attributes and be able to do whatever is necessary. Sorry for the rant. I'm just tired.

Sorry to hear this. It's definitely the Wild West out there, and maybe /dev/null could be the place for developers to create those secret handshakes
