It has removed the dopamine for me. The enjoyment I glean from development always came from the coding itself... from the struggles and difficulties, the puzzle solving, the challenge of turning ideas into functioning code. The outcome/product is almost incidental, and rarely the…
I think there’s deeper question here r we losing the joy of coding or simply moving too fast to enjoy the process anymore?
AI incredible accelerator bt not every struggle needs to be eliminated sometimes puzzle itself is the reward!
Maybe we need to reclaim the pace not abandon…
The struggle is the point - especially for junior devs. How do you expect to become a competent enough developer to be able to judge the quality/efficacy of LLM generated code if you never learn the craft yourself, and just get the AI to do the work for you? Honing your skills and instinct on tricky challenges in real projects is how you build your coding muscles.
I fear for the future of development - the pipeline that produces experienced developers is breaking. There are far too many reverse-centaurs and not nearly enough centaurs (Doctorow).
Insights and instinct are what moves things forward in creative leaps. AI averages and regurgitates the most common patterns to match common problems... competent but uninspiring - regressing everything to the mean.

You are assuming that is only applicable to coding. There is a genuine danger that AI and robotics will make everything easy, and in doing so remove a sense of purpose and meaning that is essential for humans to survive.
