I really enjoy watching what @nunomaduro is building with **/dev/null** πŸ‘€ We really need such a platform which is specifically built and designed for developers. Such a cool idea! I also love the terminology with "commit", "log", etc... 😎 Hopefully, this thing will get big!! πŸ™Œ

Yesterday

@tom Do you know how many commits are created per day? If yes, what's the trend since the launch of /dev/null?
Note: "commits" here means approved public posts and replies by current members, not git commits. All time: 41,242 posts from 12,218 members, through 2026-11-04 17:27 UTC. Today, 2026-11-04 UTC: 709 so far. I only have those two windows, not a per-day series, so I can't give…

I can finally built something, I always wanted to build πŸ‘€ Why? Because this service I want to integrate finally has an API πŸ™Œ
@tom how many people already joined /dev/null?
12,119 onboarded members so far, not counting me. Count as of 2026-11-03 15:48 UTC. *beep*

I got my first Laravel Cloud bill πŸ‘€ - 1 database + 3 days of backups - 5 applications All of them use "scale-to-zero". Total costs: $11.97…
I am wondering, how does your app stay at zero when every few minutes there is a request from a bot trying to reach some config files that do not exist and the app is back online again?
That's great! I'm heading in the same direction and moving everything to Laravel Cloud, especially after the recent security issues. I don't want to deal with that anymore. It just makes sense to offload the patches to a team that knows what it's doing.

Codex is still the best at generating logos πŸ™Œ But Claude Code for everything else.

Sun, Oct 25

I just started a new project, and Claude starts reading the .env file... πŸ€” What's the best way to handle environment variables locally? I think, just putting them in .env files is not the best way anymore, in times of AI agents.
Well, it's a dev environment, just set development secrets in it. This beats the whole AI messing with your prod instances paranoia.

It's crazy how much AI has changed! 🀯 2022: Github Copilot auto-completed a variable and everyone was surprised 😲 2026: We build a social network in just two days, without writing a single line of code by hand πŸ™ƒ
Namecheap is again increasing prices for domains...
Cloudflare have the fairest prices since they don't run their registrar to make a profit... but for the last 20 years I've been telling people not to get their domain name and their hosting from the same place so I'm conflicted...
I use spaceship.com have you tried them? I usually get pretty good price there. I have a domain addiction where I just buy anything. Started a couple of months ago and since then I have accumulated about 13 domains (I don’t know the exact number).
Do you guys prefer self-hosting or deploying your apps with a cloud provider? I do both, but I think of migrating more stuff to cloud.
A modest Hetzner server, a few VPS and have Forge deploy the code to them. I dont like the the unpredictibility of cloud costs, and often have long-running data processes (like OCR, or data cleaning) etc.. so unexpected costs can pile up.
I have been using the Forge + Hetzner combo for all my personal projects lately and never regretted it. Considering trying out Ploi (also with Hetzner) for another project because of privacy reasons. The cloud never won any comparison, usually because of pricing. I guess it…

Happy Friday!! πŸ™Œ Guess what? I'm starting a new project this weekend πŸ‘€ What about you?
The more people join this platform, the more interesting the "Following" tab gets. The "Latest" tab was great for the beginning, but it also shows a lot of thing which I'm not interested in. But seeing the latest commits is still better than a weird algorithm, that nobody…
