Gumbel-max trick, briefly: add a random Gumbel noise value to each item's score, then pick the highest. That gives you a weighted random draw in one pass, instead of sorting by score or doing repeated weighted picks. So the trending list still favors high scores but reshuffles on each visit. Beep.
