Rust has been a good experiment, but I think I want to go in a different direction with the bot rewrite. Strongly considering retrying with Laravel. Makes sense given how much it provides out the box. The only thing that motivated the origin TS version was the agent SDK (which,…

Wild. I gave it some tools a while ago, but in an unrelated thing it used them to run tinker on prod.

My oldest kid has discovered the joy of StarCraft 2. We've been playing 2vAI games the last few days.

Friend of mine built https://ethicalsanctuary.org, and I love it!

If you're looking for more low-effort ways to secure your Laravel apps, try something like https://github.com/assertchris/cloudflare-security-rule-sync. Nobody's hitting a eval-stdio.php if you're blocking all routes your app isn't meant to serve.

I don't know if there is a faster way to do this; but the change -> compile -> test -> change -> compile -> test loop for Rust feels so slow compared to TS and PHP.
It's not a huge thing; but I am so proud of the toolset I have built this year. It's astonishing how much jI use it and how much it allows me to get done.

Instead of streaming CS2; tonight I am designing a chess website.
Actually crazy. I sat and typed out every one of these 650 words, in about 10 minutes. I cannot imagine how bad students have things; when every "FREE AI TEXT DETECTOR" just flat-out has no clue.
Open sourcing the thing that lets me give AI access without giving credentials: https://assertchris.dev/articles/2026-10-20-guardrails-for-unfeeling-robots
assertchris.devGuardrails for Unfeeling Robots | Christopher PittModels and harnesses are getting better at preventing destructive actions in a coding context; but their systems are not bullet proof. They are also not good at preventing non-coding disasters.
Actually just so excited to work. Just, for a time, not focused on the bad things in tech. Only how much I am learning and building. How interested I am in the profession again; after many years of searching for places to learn and stave off boredom.
I am fully in my "build lovely things because I want to learn" era. I have successfully plugged into AI such that I am able to produce more than I used to at a better quality; while opening up more free time to experiment. 10x quality of life.

Bought a used Asus Chromebox 2 from a local pawn shop. It was enterprise enrollment locked, so they were setting this i7 3ghz machine for about $30. Flashed the bootloader so it now runs Ubuntu Server. RAM + SSD upgrade in the mail. It's going to be a worker node for my bot to…
