Inspired by the /dev/null control panels, I've spent the last few days building my own personal fitness dashboards. Running, cycling, gym training loads and Apple Health, all in one place. Pulling data from Zwift, Strava and Hevy, with Home Assistant helping sync Apple Health…

I’ve been a staunch defender of clean code for decades, but I’m starting to question its place in an AI driven world at the moment. Uncle Bob and countless other industry leaders have spent years championing clean code principles, largely because they make software easier for…
Clean Specifications? You still have a layer where a human should think and be detailed. Otherwise you're not outsourcing code, you're outsourcing purpose in life. It's like the old joke: I want a robot to mow my lawn, walk my dog, attend to my wife, and now I can die. At…
Been having an absolute blast building a personal fitness dashboard with Laravel, Codex and Amp. 🏋️ Hevy webhooks for strength training 🏠 Home Assistant webhooks for Apple Health datapoints. 🏃 Strava’s read-only API for running and cycling ☁️Obviously Laravel Cloud for hosting…
I'm burning through Codex tokens, Amp tokens and Claude Code tokens like there's no tomorrow, whilst simultaneously watching my Laravel Cloud bill creep up. And you know what? I've genuinely never been happier building stuff lol. What an absolutely ridiculous time to be a…
I'm not gonna lie, I've always been a bit sceptical about NativePHP. Not for any particularly good reason, just my own bias. The idea of PHP running on my phone always felt a bit weird, and we've all seen those frameworks that basically just wrap a webpage (I know that's not how…
The crazy things they showed off at The Vibes in Boston made me believe. I still have no reason to make a phone app, but that it’s even possible from PHP is 🤯

One of the biggest shifts I made to my workflow this week was using parallel AI agents (I've been using Amp, Codex and Claude in Superset). I've been using AI for a long time but being able to work on multiple things at once and at different levels of complexity is a game…
The "holding a mental map" thing is what I am still struggling with but trying to improve... sometimes need to slow down 😅

I've been writing PHP for 30 years this year, and I've never really contributed to open source. /dev/null is making me want to get into open source and actually contribute.
Do you have any automated AI agents that run on schedules? I have one at 8am every weekday that gives me a full picture for my standup, so meetings, what I did yesterday, what I am blocked on in JIRA and what I am looking at in GitHub?
I have: - A daily agent that informs me about what happened yesterday, any new releases, any new packages, etc. - A weekly agent that informs me about some football matches I'm monitoring. - Another one that reminds me every 3 to 4 weeks to buy cat litter, and many, many more 😄

Shout out to all my fellow devs and mates who are still sat at their desks tonight, patching servers, rebuilding Docker images and chasing down PHP and Node.js security vulnerabilities. 🫡 Nothing quite like a security advisory to turn a normal Wednesday into an unexpected…
