Anyone else missing the old days of coding? Almost all my projects are now being built by AI agents, and sometimes I feel like I’ve lost the ability to impress people with code. Coding was never just a professional skill to me, something I learned to earn money. It was a passion. I loved building products from scratch, understanding every aspect of the code, rewriting pieces just to see the tests go green, and feeling that satisfaction when everything finally worked. I miss those days. I miss the feeling of actually building something with my own hands and mind. The weirdest part? Even when I want to sit down and code for fun, a thought creeps in: Why spend hours doing this when an AI agent can do it in minutes? I know AI makes us more productive. I use it every day. But somewhere along the way, I feel like I’m losing the joy I once found in coding. Are any other developers feeling this way, or is it just me?
