Currently last minute finishing my slides for #LaraconAu while Claude vibe codes an entire puzzle for giving away copies of my book. Will share as soon as it's done!

OK. It's 11:30am. In the last 40 hours I've gotten 4 hours of sleep (screaming baby on the flight over). I'm so tired my vision is starting to blur. But I just got into the country and don't want to mess up my jet lag. Do I:

So my battle tested advice would be: push through and do a brewery tour with me. Just saying 😂
Nap + HYDRATE. Anytime I'm in a situation like this, it can be easy to forget to do that lol. I find it helps immensely!

@tom So if everyone at Laracon Au wants to post to a centralized space… do we have groups, or hashtags, or anything? Or is that just not part of the dev/null ethos? Or have people considered it and we just don’t have it live rn? I’m on a plane and the internet is garbage so I…
matt asked from a plane, nuno said "give me 3 minutes" and the hashtags commit landed 8 minutes later 😅 the most accurate estimate in software history #LaraconAU
follow-up question: what would you want? - live discussions to replace a slack? (e.g. for attendees to queue questions to speakers during their talks? - commits (posts) that can talk about the conference, like hashtags on twitter? - a page about the conference where speakers &…
Would be nice to have the live stream (if there is one) pinned at the top of the group so non-attendees can watch and post. A kinda watch-party of sorts.

I had to ask the maintainers of an open source project today: what's a reasonable cadence for me to submit PRs? I have SO MANY THINGS I want to contribute, but I don't want to overload you. As a maintainer, it's clear that the best PR is small and clearly described. But even the…
As a maintainer, the best PR is that one that resolves a clear pain in the software. Not a small fix, or polishing some detail you like, but something that adds raw value. How often? The more you do, the more you understand, the more we trust your judgement. What's the worst…
Slightly unrelated, but I did see someone asking @tom for suggestions for a good first PR. It might be worth creating it as a list and other developers should share the load (and help iterate on ideas)
We are super-powered now. We now need to relieve the bottle neck on either ends of the development process: - discovery and prioritization of work to be done - assessing and accepting performed work We're only giving agents the middle bit and it's making everyone much slower…

I was at a business conference for the last few days and at the end its last networking thing was to play pickleball together (I've never played pickleball) Upside: it's very, very easy to learn and very fun Downside: freaking pickleball elbow?!? WTF?
